To the Editors of the Crimson:
We applaud the innovation in British recording engineering (Crimson, Sept. 25) extending the upper limit of recording frequencies to "14,000 kilo-cycles." We congratulate, you on your use of the words "hush-hush" in this connection, since the upper limit of human hearing is generally conceded to be roughly 20 kilocycles.
Do you realize, gentlemen, that now at last not only are FM-quality records possible, but recorded color television equal in clarity to that now being broadcast with a paltry 10,000 kilocycles!
Engineers all over the world will soon thrill to the sight of Lana Turner emanating from one of these remarkable discs. The electronics industry will continue to look to the Crimson for the very latest word. C. P. Slichter '45. H. P. Field '46. T. M. Sanders '48.
