Winthrop topped the House swimming championship by amassing 34 points to Leverett's 21 in the contest held Tuesday in the Indoor Athletic Building pool. Originally scheduled as a two-day meet, it was found that there were so few entries that the meet, originally scheduled for two days, could be run off in one.
Though the Puritans took only one first in the five single entry events, they clinched he meet by a clean sweep of the two relay races: the 150-yard medley relay in 1 minute 35.9 seconds and the 200 yard free style relay in 1 minute 57.3 seconds.
The Funster squad placed third, Lowell fourth, and Adams brought up the rear. Lowell's Robert Goodspeed was the single man star of the meet, breaking the tape twice, with a time of 1 minute 5.1 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, and two minutes 26.8 seconds in the 200-yard stretch.
Wise Sets Pace
In the 50-yard freestyle, Stephen Wise of Winthrop set the pace with the time of 25.2 seconds. Dunster's single first place for the afternoon came when Justin Collins won the 50-yard backstroke in 36.2 seconds.
