With the decision to continue its investigation of the increase in rents in the student dormitories at MIT, the executive committee of the MIT Veterans Association concluded a meeting last night with Dr. James Killian, executive vice-president of the Institute.
A week ago the association had protested the rise in rents and tuition, and since then they have submitted a petition to Dr. Carl T. Compton, President of the Institute, requesting him to reduce the increases as far as possible. Fifty eight percent of the dormitory residents signed the petition.
OPA rent regulations, it was discovered by the investigation committee, offer no protection, because their codes do not cover living quarters in charitable or non-profit institutions.
