WASHINGTON-Price increases on a wide variety of consumer goods ranging from mechanical refrigerators to canned fruits were authorized by OPA tonight as the agency awaited final word from the decontrol board on its future food price policies.
The new price boosts, all passed on to the consumer, covered products outside the scope of President Truman's decontrol board, which must decide by tomorrow night whether controls are to be restored on meat, grain and dairy products, soy beans and cottonseed.
