Food Slashes to Start In Houses This Week

Voluntary Collection Planned To Raise Funds for Relief

The four food cuts recently recommended by the Student Council will go into effect in the dining halls immediately, according to Aldrich W. Durant '02, business manager of the University. Meanwhile the Council food committee has gone ahead rapidly with plans to take voluntary collections in the Houses to supplement the estimated $600 to be saved by the food cuts and hopes to have members of the respective House committees seated in the dining halls to receive donations this week.

At a meeting of the food committee in the Adams House Common Room yesterday, Frank L. McDougall, acting director of Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, spoke to the committee of long range effects of the present food crises. He stressed that the current problem is not a new one and that the FAO has been set up to try and prevent any recurrence of these world famines.
