Legal Aid Bureau Is Reopened After Closing for Four Years

Directed by Edward J. LeCam, high ranking students of the Law School are once again operating the Legal Aid Bureau, lapsed since 1942, to handle divorce, landlord, and tenant cases that would not ordinarily involve a retainer or fee for an attorney.

The bureau accepted eight cases on its first day of consultation last week, three more than the pre-war daily average. In operation for 27 years before the war, it offers legal advice to residents of greater Boston who cannot afford to consult a lawyer.
