DEPLETED MERMEN FACE VETERAN BLUE VARSITY

Rounding out the winter sports season, the Varsity swimming team will take on Yale this Saturday at New Haven for what might be its third victory in the swimming rivalry. The mermen will have behind them a record of nine wins and only one loss--to Dartmouth.

But Coach Hal Ulen's 16 swimmers and divers will be less favored than Yale's varsity of veterans who have gone undefeated for two years. His hopes among the predominantly Freshman squad are with Ted Norris in the quarter-mile, and Howard Simpson in the 220-yard freestyle.

The Crimson team, already depleted by draft calls and Navy transfers, will face the Elis with much less power than they had at the beginning of the season. The opposing stars who will try to carry Yale to its eleventh victory in the Crimson-Blue rivalry and another Big Three championship are Larimore in the breast-stroke, Stallings at the backstroke, and Burr in the 440 freestyle.
