Varsity Five Returns Home For Tufts Encounter Tonight

Crimson, With Two Victories In Three Starts, Will Face Experienced Jumbo Quintet

After a miniature Grand Tour to such historic spots as the Boston Garden and Providence, R. I., the Varsity basketball team returns tonight to the homler confines of the Indoor Athletic Building, where Tufts furnishes the Crimson opposition at 8:45 o'clock. The unbeaten Freshman five and the Tufts Junior Varsity squad will meet in a preliminary contest at 7:15 o'clock.

Coach Bill Barclay's quintet, which showed marked improvement over its Holy Cross performance in subduing Brown Saturday night, will be seeking its third victory in four starts, while the Jumbos were victorious in their only previous engagement, a 37 to 31 triumph over Northeastern on Saturday.

For the Jumbos, who gave Coach Floyd Stahl's combination considerable grief last season before succumbing, Coach Fred "Fish" Ellis will start an experienced lineup. Forwards and co-captains Rocco Antonelli and Eddie Ham were regular on pre-war Tufts teams, and guards Bob Cooney and Earle Tryder are also Medford veterans. The probable starting center, Lee Kolankiewicz, is a talented Freshman.

Other Tufts performers likely to see action include Dick Rosen and George Blackburn, guards; Al Nickerson, Bob Burgbacher, Addison Parris, and George Weldon, forwards.

There are no expected changes in the Crimson lineup, which has remained the same for all three previous Varsity performances. Jack Noble and Leo Page get the call at the forwards, George Hauptfuhrer at center, and Captain Saul Mariaschin and Steve Davis, guards.

Captain John Rockwell, who has totaled a tidy 53 points in two contests, will pair with Frank Lionette at the forwards, Pat Dailey is at center, and Dick Covey will team with Dick Reifsnyder or Chuck Brynteson at the guards.
