Mammoth Grid Rally Will Inaugurate Yale Weekend Celebration

Cheer Leaders to Demonstrate New Flash Card Technique

Audience participation against the Elis will be whipped to the zenith pitch with the largest pre-game rally and march of the year headed by the University band on Friday and the first Stadium flash card display ever staged in the Soldiers Field stands between the halves of the clash.

Clothed in complete crimson uniforms for the first time this season, the band will lead a procession from Memorial Hall at 4:20 o'clock Friday afternoon through the Square and over Anderson Bridge to Dillon Field House, where Coach Harlow, Athletic Director William J. Bingham '16, Vern Miller '41, Captain Cleo O'Donnell '43 and members of the team will address the marchers.

Spear Asks Support

Gorald S. Spear '48, head Crimson cheerleader, last night called for full support in the rally and the demonstration in order to "hold our own against the enemy."

"Half of the Yale crowd," he said, "is coming up Wednesday; the other half, Thursday. All of Harvard should be there to out-shout them."

Flash cards, he said, will be distributed in the Stadium behind the benches in sections 35 and 36 before the game Saturday. To insure the success of the flash display, he cautioned, occupants of these sections should not move their cards until told to do so or leave their seats between halves.

Numbers are printed in the right-hand corners of the cards. Three signals from the cheerleaders, the first announcement of what number should be used, the second a signal to hold up the cards, and third a signal to lower them, will direct the proceedings.
