Reports from scouts Harry Kopp and Chief Boston, who saw the Princeton Tigers run over Brown 33 to 12 last Saturday, led Coach Dick Harlow to emphasize defensive tactics yesterday, as the Varsity eleven began preparations for its first Big Three trial of the season on Saturday.

More than half of yesterday's workout was devoted to defense against Princeton plays, as enacted by the "C" team. A passing session and a signal drill took care of the rest of the afternoon.

Leibert, Francke Lauded

Especially landed by the returning scouts was the work of tailback George Leibert, whose passes were a major factor in the Princeton victory, and George Francke, the smashing fullback who played against the Varsity in 1942.

Captain Cleo O'Donnell, who suffered a broken rib on Saturday, is expected to be sidelined about a month, but O'Donnell is the only player who saw action against Tufts who will definitely not appear in the Princeton game.

There was a short scrimmage session for the "C" eleven yesterday, and the "A" and "B" squads are expected to have contact drills before the Varsity departs for Princeton on Friday morning. Harlow intends to take about fifty players on the trip.
