Interceptions played a big part Saturday as the Holy Cross Jayvees blanked Coach Henry Lamar's Freshman eleven, 26 to 0, in what, despite the score, was a much more closely-contested battle than the one taking place at the same time in the adjacent Stadium.
Sparked by left halfback Ed Maglio, who scored the second and third Crusader touchdowns and was credited with two of their five interceptions, the larger Purple team took full advantage of their breaks, racking up 14 and 12 points in the second and third periods.
For the twice-defeated Yardling gridders, backs Don Marangiello and Jim Kenary rendered iron-man service, each turning in over 50 minutes of action. In the line, Dick Guidera and Howie Reed stood out for the losers. Score by periods:
