An authority on American race relations, Fletcher P. Martin, Nieman Fellow on leave from the post of city editor on the Louisville Defender, will speak tonight on the various aspects of the Columbia, Tennessee race riots last March, before the Harvard Liberal Union and the Radcliffe League for Democracy in Phillips Brooks House at 8 o'clock.
Martin served as a war correspondent and on his return to the United States received the award of the Negro Newspaper Publishers for the best job of reporting in the negro press.
Currently throwing its efforts into the campaign of Martha Sharp for Congress against Joe Martin in the Massachusetts fourteenth district and also for Oliver Allen, the Liberal Union is trying to recruit men to canvass for the election of these candidates.
Volunteers for this work will leave every morning at 6:15 o'clock from Little Hall during the period from October 21 through November 4 and will be taken by car to the districts which are to be covered.
