In one of the hardest fought games of the season, Standish came from behind on Wednesday to unseat the ex-league leaders, Lowell, by the close score of 35 to 34. This game, marked by the steady uphill fight of the Freshmen, throws the Intramural competition wide open, with a chance for any of the top teams to cop the laurels.
For the winners, Wally Baker and Bob Everett paved the way to victory with brilliant floor games and some very accurate marksmanship. The Bellboys were paced by Julie Hatton, who made 22 tallies from his forward position.
NROTC Company 3B got off to a good start Wednesday by defeating Adams by the impressive total of 41 to 27. Led by Jack Clark, who played on last term's Varsity quintet, the Navy Company employed a dazzling fast break that set the Gold Coasters back on their heels.
Yesterday, however, Company 3B went down to defeat before its Eliot House buddies, NROTC Companies 1 and 2, by the score of 35 to 22. Handicapped by the absence of Clark, they were completely outplayed by their opponents.
In the only other game that was played this week, Company C, last term's runner-up, evened up its season's average at two wins and two losses by defeating NROTC Company 3A, 47 to 28, in the first game of yesterday's twin bill.
