There was a noticeable absence of dragging garters as the Review became a memory. Compliments are in order upon the fine appearance of the Battalion. Particular praise should be awarded to the following men: "Kelly" Hunt for his "sounding off"--We feared for a while that Kel was being made to recite the Constitution--Tom Gaines for marching without the aid of his Seeing Eye dog. Jack Frost says, "Gaines is the only man in the world whose Seeing Eye dog needs a Seeing Eye dog."--Bob "Pancho" Bisbe, for his gallant, well-concealed maneuver in removing one ambidextrous spider from a friend's neck--Vern Nelson for marching all the time without his book-bag.
Down on the soccer field an all-star aggregation of softballers from Co. 1 removed the knickerbockers from the spindly shanks of Co. 2 by the score of 7 to 2. Drexler duelled Kennedy on the mound, with Drexler having the better of the fray by Virtue of his 3 hitter.
Of course the Hayride and Picnic will highlight the coming weekend. So far, about 1520 people will be aboard Don Brown's hay-carriers as they head for Norumbega. The trip, Braz Pryor claims, will be inspiring because of its patriotic flavor--no gasoline, no rubber, no canned goods--and if Cowie has its way, no horses. Oh well, I'd sooner oat 'em than ride 'em. All itinerary of the route--both to the Park and to the wagons will be available upon request. Please see Brother Jaffa. The first hayburner will start on the historic journey at 5 o'clock sharp. In case of precipitation all cash will be refunded and plans will be made for the group to got together Saturday night somewhere-even for an informal dance since you will have dates (or do you?)
One of the things to look for on the expedition will be the gal Colonel Cornelius will drag, and we do mean drag, along.
Pre-Commissioning Banquet rehearsals went into full production last night as Norm Brown, ex-Dartmouth football star, and that antiquated vaudevillian, Jack Brunner, ran through their act on a certain big industry man and his stooge in the front row.
Plans for the year Book are now being acted on. Yet more pictures are needed. As it is now, the Junior section on candid shots will be much larger than ours due to their preponderance of personal prints. Boxes have been placed in all the entries to receive your pictures. Any picture will do. All pictures will be returned in perfect condition.
As a final word--submit those pictures of your best girl and the Year Book will run a page of these "Beaverettes."
