The Lucky Bag

Navy Supply Corps 'Midshipmen Officers School

The flowers that bloom in the spring, tra-la. . . . However welcome the sprinkling of dandelions across the Business School vista may be, the vernal efforts of Dame Nature are not alone responsible for the jubilation of the Junior Ensigns. Theirs is the joy of accomplishment which the combined connivance of the Management graders and the disbursing faculty has not been able to quench. The end of the second term is in sight, and with this consummation comes that added element of freedom which has been a shining beacon amid the trials and terrors of John A. Hancock, Ensign, S.C., (symbol number 58-977, by force of habit).

Her Hoffman, having declined an invitation to join the Harvard crew, plans to wing Wisconsin-way with a gleaming multi-facet job which may men wedding bells the' he claims otherwise. G. Grove, having previously committed himself, will assume added responsibility on this leave, and P. Harty, attorney-at-law and platoon-commander-extraordinary, will do likewise.

A small contingent of the West Coast boys are answering the call of the Rockies, but others are heading South. Messrs. McClelland and Howsie plan to investigate the wonders of Miami, after the build-up given, the little city by Florida's gift to the Supply Corps. Incidentally, we might welcome the aforementioned Floridian as Transportation instructor for the coming term. Glad to have you aboard, suh!

Speaking of Lieutenants, add one to the 10,702 officers of the supply Corps. As of next Sunday's strip, our ideal and hero, Shinin Dick Tracy, will be an honorary member.

And with one last touch directed at the main character of our column for these four months, we refer with pride to Granny Lee, one of us lowly Ensigns, who, this month, completes his first fogey.

With that ends another term, and also The Lucky Bag Adios, and Happy Leave.
