Two soccer teams from the Royal Navy Ficol Air Arm stationed at Squantum invaded Harvard last Saturday and emerged with a victory and a tie over Jack Mac-Donald's green soccer squad. The games were played at Soldiers Field beyond the stables, before an audience of over 50 British sailors who came up from Squantum to watch their team.
In the Team A game, a numerically superior Harvard team came up in the last half to tie a seemingly lost game, there to three. Hero of the day for Harvard was Bob Woodside, whose two goals made the tie possible after the British had pulled ahead by three to one in the fist half.
Pritchard Scores Two
Robert Pritchard, center forward for the Royal Navy, equalled Woodside's feat by scoring two goals in the first half. The other scores were made by Paul Morgan for Harvard and Richard Quinn for the British Navy.
In the second team game, the superior weight and experience of the Britishers began to tell late in the first half, and the Harvard booters were kept constantly on the defensive as the Fleet Air Arm won, tour to zero.
At the request of the Harvard A. A. and the Royal Navy, a second game is being scheduled for this Saturday. The Fleet Air Arms will once again send two teams to Harvard, and the scrimmage game will be held along the same lines as the first.
