The Junior baseball competition is beginning to shape up although the three hour disbursing exam last Saturday and the rain on Monday put some of the teams behind schedule.

Classes C and E played a real thriller Tuesday afternoon. The score was tied at the beginning of the seventh inning, there were two outs and three men on base when Don Wise, left-fielder for the "E" team, hit into right field for three bases.

Hero Wise later managed to get himself home, and that made it 8 to 4. Hank Jaeger of "C" got a run in the second part of the seventh. For a while it looked as if the "C" boys were going to town, but the side was retired leaving the final score 8 to 5.

Class C Handicapped

Class C was handicapped in that there were not enough players available to make any substitutions or shifts. There were three "E" substitutions: White and Slickman for Young on first, and Spiro for Tobias in right field.

Pitching for both sides was of a high order: Miller for "C" and Trudell for "E" both putting across clean and decisive throws. The catchers, Voss (E) and Hopkins (C), both gave good accounts of themselves. The fielding was generally good and Sharemet of "E" turned in the best performance of the afternoon by racing half way across the backfield at one point to make a catch and retire the opposing side.

Audience Meager

Very few spectators were on hand. Noticeably absent were certain class officers who will be the first to get in on anything that happens if their team should win one of the cash prizes. Both teams played good ball and both deserve a much larger following than they now have. We can all afford an hour and a half away from the books. Let's get out there and support the boys who think enough of their classes to represent them on the ball diamond. They also serve who only sit and cheer.

Of necessity, we cannot see all the games played, but we will be glad to publish all or any accounts which class athletic officers care to give us.
