Mabel the mallard duck with her must in front of the Student club is undoubtedly one of the best attended mallard ducks in the countryside. Mabel not only has father duck bringing her choice edibles. . . she has a certain (jg) bringing her bread crumbs from Cowie Hall . . . Also within duck-bill length Mabel has a bowl full of water which said (jg) also religiously fills. I can't mention the (jg's) name. . . . He outranks me. . . . In fact, he is very rank at times.
When it comes to coming back for more, our hat is off to the WAVES. . . . Why doesn't someone let them win a ball game for a change . . . or still better they might play Company F.
Hospitality Walved
Have you heard about the member of the British 'Wavy Navy' who came to port recently and couldn't understand understand when he called the barracks of our Wave (y) Navy and was told he couldn't bunk there for the night.
According to regulations the 'Money List' should be the first item to be taken over the side upon the order to abandon ship . . . However the Juniors are claiming they are going to take their specimens over first . . . . What good would a money list be without the specimens to use as a guide.
Willkie Recognized
We are also happy to see according to Time Magazine that Ralph E. Gates, chairman of the Republican party in Indiana and father of Bob Gates in the Senior class, has finally promoted a picture of Wendell Willkie for the Hoosier State's Hall of Fame. After Willkie's book began nearing the million mark in the sales column . . . Indiana has decided to accept him as a prophet at home, since he has become one to the rest of the world. His book will be the third non-fraction book since 1901 to sell over a million copies.
There is also the theory promoted among the Juniors that we should send the Gestapo copies of the Manual, Memo and Specimens . . . with no explanations. . . . They figure it would drive Adolf aunts trying to figure them out. We'd hate to see how voluminious the Manual and Memo would be in Japanese. A supply officer in the Jap Navy would probably have to have a "can" to cart his instructions around.
Suggestions Welcome
Then there is the Junior whose wife is working in the payroll department at Suffolk Downs. . . . How about getting us some hot tips, Al?
A lot of Juniors are glad payday was moved back to Monday. . . . After that Exam Saturday. . . . Tis rumored some of the boys cut loose with everything they had.
If you really want to know about morale in Boston talk to Morale Officer Burns of class F. If you want to see the Hot Spots . . See Conn of class F. . . . In fact, just see class F.
