The burden of responsibility for getting a medical excuse for missing any final exam lies with the student, Dr. Arile V. Bock, head of the Department of Hygiene, pointed out yesterday. In case of illness men must notify the Department of their absence, he said, quoting as follows from the official Regulations:
"A student prevented by illness from attending an hour examination, or a mid-year or final examination, should, not later than the hour of his first absence, either consult his own physician or communicate with the Department of Hygiene in person or by telephone.
"In the former case, he should submit to the Department of Hygiene a statement from his physician, written and sent in on the day of the student's illness. The student will be responsible for notifying the Department of Hygiene that he is missing an hour examination or final examination in order that a certificate of excuse may be sent to the Assistant Dean.
