A fifteen foot shot with five seconds to go in an overtime period by mid-fielder Frank Goodman gave the Harvard lacrosse team a 6 to 5 edge over Tufts in the Crimson's first clash Wednesday. The stickmen meet MIT at 5 o'clock today on the Business School field.
In a seesaw melee opened by tallies by Jay Hurley and Newt Peabody in the first quarter for Harvard, the two teams were forced into overtime when they found themselves in a 5 to 5 deadlock at the end of four quarters. Tufts matched the two first Crimson scores but soon found itself in the hole when both Ed Barber and Hurley rang up markers.
Bridge Stars
Unrelenting, the Jumbos again evened the count and equalled a score by George--Angle, making necessary the overtime period. The Varsity defense was sparked by Captain Tom Bridge, assisted by Tom Page and Ed Davis, with Jerry Levy in the lace work. Dave Thompson and Bud Lane, filled out the Cantab midfield.
Chief threat to the Crimson ten were two-goal scorers Charnoch and Fontin, and attackman Hollander.
