WASHINGTON--The Navy, in a revised check, announced today that 39 instead of 34 Japanese planes were shot down in last Tuesday's large-scale attack on Allied shipping in the Solomons.
A communique also said that five of the seven U. S. pilots downed in the fight had been rescued, and that the small Allied fuel oil boat formerly listed as sunk is now listed as damaged.
