COL. DONIAT CALLED TO WMC POSITION

Col. Wood Named as New Mil Sci Head

Colonel Francis A. Doniat, professor of Military Sciences and Tactics and leader of the Harvard R. O. T. C.'s since March 17, 1942, will leave college on March 11 for duty with the War Manpower Commission. His successor is Colonel William S. Wood, at present commanding officer of Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont.

Informed of his transfer only last Friday, Colonel Doniat will go first to Washington for temporary duty with the Commission, but will soon proceed to Omaha, Nebraska, where he will be in charge of War Manpower activities for a large section of the middle west.

Made Innovations

Coming to Harvard last year, Colonel Doniat has guided the Field Artillery unit through many developments and changes. It was his energy which promoted the weekly "Muzzle Blast" and other efforts to increase esprit de corps. During his stay the unit's headquarters were moved from old Wadsworth House to Shannon Hall, and as he leaves, the remnants of the unit face absorption into the Army Training Program.
