WASHINGTON--The powerful Senate farm bloc today forced to final passage and sent to the House the Bankhead skilled-farmer deferment bill, ignoring the strong protests of the Administration that it might upset carefully-devised 1943 military strategy.
The House meanwhile, passed and sent to the Senate a sharply-reduced appropriation for $28,100,000 for recruitment and training of a so-called land army to help alleviate the farm manpower crisis. As finally approved 195 to 81, the allotment was slashed from an original agriculture department request for $65,000,000
