House Raps WMC

WASHINGTON--The House Appropriations Committee, mindful of Congressional promises of economy, today reported a $6,298,530,435 deficiency appropriations bill after chopping off $13,906,330 requested for manpower agencies and certain state-aid programs.

More than a mere economy stroke, the reduction amounted to a rebuke to War Manpower Commissioner Paul V. McNutt who had warned that rejection of his request for an added $2,540,000 for the U. S. Employment Service might hamstring the whole manpower program.
