Hyde and Heath Are Elected as Officers of 1944 Student Council

Five Men Appointed From '44, '45, and '46

Hugh M. Hyde '44 of 59 Plympton Street and Far Hills, New Jersey, was elected president, and Brooks N. Heath '44 of Winthrop House and Auburndale, Massachusetts, taking over Hyde's former post, secretary, at the Student Council meeting last night, while it was decided that Thomas V. Keene, Jr. '45 would remain treasurer.

Replacing George M. Burditt '44 in another of the jobs he left behind, Hyde adds this position to his captaincy of the basketball team.

Beside the election of officers the appointment of a junior and two men from both '45 and '46 was included in the business of the meeting. Junior appointee was Andrew W. Welch, Jr. '44 of Leverett House and West Roxbury, Massachusetts, chairman of the Jubilee Committee in his Freshman year, Varsity baseball player, and secretary of his class.

Appointed from the Sophomore class were Frank D. Bixler '45 of Winthrop House and Indianapolis, Varsity basketball player, and Armand Schwab, Jr. '45 of Eliot House and New York City, managing editor of the CRIMSON. This is the third group of members of the class to be added to the Council.

A pair of Freshmen was added as well, to augment the four chosen by class election last month. They are Donald T. Trautman '46 of Kirkland House and Cleveland, business manager and later co-editor of the Freshman Red Book, and Robert M. Hart '46 of Adams House and Tulsa, Oklahoma, member of the Freshman Class Committee and one of the organizers of the two '46 dances, last summer's and this winter's.
