Harvard Jayvee teams took two out of three contests from Andover Saturday, while dropping a close track decision to Exeter 44 1/2 to 41 1/2 and losing to the St. Paul pucksters, 6 to 3.
Exeters Nip Tracksters
At Exeter, the Jayvee tracksters were nosed out of a victory in a nip-and-tuck battle, when the schoolboys captured first place in the meet finale, the 200-yard relay. Dick Coggeshall ran a dead heat with Exeter's Dick Hall in the thousand, smashing the Exeter record with a sparkling 2:21.7 performance. The meet was tied all the way, and even individual honors were split between the teams. Flint of Harvard and Marshall of Exeter ended one-two in the 45-yard hurdles, trading places in the 40-yard dash.
Pucksters Lose on Breaks
Just plain hard luck defeated the Crimson sextet in their contest with St. Paul's. The loss snapped the Jayvees' six game winning streak and gave the prepsters a clean sweep over all of the Big Three sextets. Hard hit by the manpower shortage, Harvard's skeleton squad fought their opponents to a standstill, but were overcome by fluke shots that somehow found their way into the net. St. Paul's well-balanced sextet built up an early 2-1 lead and held their ratio of superiority throughout.
Fencers Slash Andover 15-12
A substantial victory in the sabre gave the Harvard a 15-12 win over Andover Saturday in the fencing rooms of the Indoor Athletic Building. Harvard's Otto Brosius sparked the 7-2 triumph, winning all three of his matches. Andover came back strongly in the epee, taking six of the nine bouts, but the Jayvees clinched the match with a 5-4 foil victory.
Wrestlers Thrown by Andover
Gaining two of their four victories by falls, the Andover grapplers pinned the Crimson matmen by a 16-12 score. Meaghan and Moody of the prep school grunt-and-groaners pinned their men to provide the margin of victory.
