WASHINGTON--Liout. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower who, as new supreme commander of all Allied forces in the African-Mediterranean theatre, will lead the campaign to bring an invasion against the "soft underbelly" of the Axis in Europe, was raised to the temporary rank of full General today.
The Senate confirmed his promotion, made suspension of the rules, only a few hours after President Roosevelt had sent up his nomination.
