Wilbur Kitchener Jordan, Radcliffe's fourth president, will be inaugurated at Sanders Theatre on Monday afternoon, November 22, at 4 o'clock. The ceremonies will feature an inaugural procession by Harvard instructors teaching at Radcliffe, an address by President Conant, and a speech by Mrs. Wallace Notestein, the former Ada Comstock, who retired on September 1, after serving as Radcliffe's president for 20 years.
A reception at Agassiz Hall, Monday evening at 8:30 o'clock given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jordan by Radcliffe trustees, will end the day's proceedings.
Twenty-five colleges and universities, mostly in New England, will be represented at the inaugural ceremonies, and visiting dignitaries will take up most of Sanders' limited seating capacity. A few seats may be available to Radcliffe alumni.
President and Mrs. Jordan have had a long association with Harvard and Radcliffe. Jordan received his M.A. degree here in 1926, his Ph.D. in 1931. From 1931 to 1937 he was an instructor and tutor in History, Government, and Economics at Harvard, later becoming professor of History at Scripps College, Claremont, California, from 1937 until 1940.
