NTS OFFICERS GET CAPTAIN'S ADVICE

"No Officer is closer to the ship's captain than the Communications officer," Captain Paul R. Heineman, USN, commanding officer of an anti-submarine warfare unit of the Atlantic fleet, told his listeners at the NTS (Communications) graduation exercises in Sanders Theatre last Thursday morning.

Captain Heineman addressed an audience of 213 graduates of class 4-43, 16 members of class 5-43 who are not staying on for post-graduate work, 231 members of class 5-43, and several hundred relatives and friends.

Stressing the responsibility of a communications officer's work, Captain Heineman declared, "Your primary job is leadership. As officers, you must set an example for your men."

Captain Heineman was introduced by Lt. Comdr. M. E. Paradise, Officer-in-Charge. Other members of the official party included Lt. Comdr. E. W. Sweetland, Executive Officer; Lieut, Carl Knudsen, Chaplain for Harvard Naval Training Schools; and Aldrich Durant, business manager of the University.
