ALLIED HEADQUARTERS, NORTH AFRICA--Powerful German counter-blows have dislodged the British from briefly-held hill positions southwest of Bizerte in an all-day battle emphasizing that the high stakes in Tunisia will be bitterly contested inch-by-inch, official reports said tonight.
Throwing a great weight of men and guns against the British positions on Djel Azzag and surrounding heights 15 miles west of Mateur, the Germans attacked early yesterday, the dispatches said.
