Not only did the red-coated Harvard Band serenade the student officers of the Naval Indoctrination School last evening at 7:15 o'clock in the Yard, but they also delivered a rendition of "There's Something About a Soldier".
Malcolm H. Holmes '28, conductor of the Pierian Sodality Orchestra and the University Band, directed the musicians as they stood in formation in front of Thayer Hall. The 20-minute program began with The Star Spangled Banner as flag lowering took place and as the new class of S-O's stood at attention.
Other numbers played were: Harvard Medley, which is the long-standing favorite of Crimson football crowds, Veritas and Colonial Marches, and finally a Navy Medley.
The efforts of the band were received much better than during their last attempt to entertain the Navy men. For a few weeks ago the musicians chose to serenade the Yard on the same night that the Indoctrination School students were cramming for their first hour-exam.
