Members of the Class of 1946 who failed to receive higher than 594 on the College Board Examinations in French, and who therefore must pass off language requirements before the end of their second year in College are offered three methods of meeting these requirements.

The first of these methods is the traditional two hour examination which will contain historical, scientific, and literary passages, of which the student must choose one. These exams are given at least twice during the year and on failure may be taken over again.

Summer changes have been added to the second method, formerly calling for students to pass with a final grade of C or higher one of the following courses: French B, C, D, E, F, German B, C, D, E, F, or any higher course in these languages.

Now, students may meet the requirements by passing summer courses in French or German above SCa equivalent to the second half of the corresponding course in the fall and spring terms, or by passing with an honor grade summer courses in these languages above SCa equivalent to the first half of the corresponding course in the fall and spring terms.

Students who receive higher than 594 on the French placement tests given at the time of registration will be considered to have met the Reading French requirement.
