As far as possible, Harvard's intramural athletic program will function in full force this summer, according to present plans.

Freshmen will be allowed to compete on the regular House teams for the various championships, which, however, will have nothing to do with the regular season competition for the Straus Trophy, emblematic of supremacy on the House athletic front.

Indoor and hand baseball will have teams in every House that will vie with one another for the House title just as during the regular spring schedules. Tennis will also be represented by teams and possibly with an informal tournament sometime during the summer.

Wide Variety Offered

Crew facilities will be available for students, and crew races between Houses may possibly be held. In addition to baseball, tennis, and crew, there may also be an informal track meet.

Volley ball courts are being constructed on Soldiers Field for the use of students in the regular conditioning class, but they may also be used in inter-House competition. There has also been a movement started to include dinghy racing in the various sports activities.

To take care of the increased number of students who are expected to participate in House sports, the regular program is being expanded wherever possible, both in the number of teams competing and the quality of coaching. Varsity coaches, with the exception of those coaching football, will be available during the summer and will devote their efforts toward supervising the intramural sports.
