Battle of Posts at Adams

In a recent dinner given at Adams House the guest speakers were Robert Frosts, eminent American poet, and Alfred Noyes, British poet. The discussion over modern trends in poetry and its future waxed quite hot. The rivalry between Adams and Kirkland in respect to blood donations continue, with each house exhorting its members onwards to complete coverage.

The Adams House Spring Formal will take place on Monday, May 18 when the Gold Coasters will dance to the music of Will Bradley and his orchestra.

Dunster Presents Costume Ball

Costumes ranging from suits of armor to grass skirts will feature the Dunster House Spring Costume Ball tomorrow night. A prize will be given to the best and most original costume worn. Also featured will be the winners of Monday night's swing contest who will play an entire set with Andy Kirks" Clouds of Joy."

On the calender for the big Funster weekend will be the "Gat Nineties" crew race against Calhoun College, Yale. Sunday a Stradivarius Quartet will play in the House Common Room.

Eliot Dance Success

Chester W. Jenks, Chairman of the Eliot House Committee announced yesterday that the Spring Formal held, two weeks ago, was a financial and social success to an unexpected degree. The social success he attributed to the soft, balmy spring night which allowed dancing on the terrace to Howard Jones orchestra. Elections to the House Committee have been announced as Jenks, new chairman, and John Kennedy, secretary-treasurer. Also newly elected to the committee Joseph Downer, those re-elected were Gord Lyle, Del Ames, Tom Van Meter and John Burton.

Tough Spring for Kirkland

Dancing on the balcony and a steak supper will feature the Spring dance at Kirkland House on May 14 with the music of George Auld. This spring has been a trying one for Kirkland House, for in April two ancient cars were deposited in the Kirkland court and just recently the Deacons' sundial was found painted in a manner resembling a barber pole. After this episode it was threatened that the dance would be postponed, but the confession of the culprits in time meant that the dance would go on as scheduled. Carter Leslie, House Athletic Secretary feels fairly sure that Kirkland will repeat its performance of the last three years and carry off the Straus trophy for inter-House athletics again this year.

Leverett to present "Front Page"

For its Spring play Leverett House has chosen Hecht and McArthur's fast moving comedy of newspapermen in the last 20's, "The Front Page". Directed by Messrs. I. R. Wechsler and W. W. Minton, of the English Department, assisted by Alan Epstein, the play will be presented for one night only, May 18. There will be no admission fee.

The leading roles of Hildy Johnson, star reporter, and his boss Walter Burns, are taken by Allan Levine, and Paul Sagelyn.

Lowell Baffies Eliot Over Courtyard

An informal but extremely serious feud is raging between Lowell and Eliot Houses over the beauties of their respective courtyards in spring time. It all started when an unofficial sampling of Bellboys revealed that they considered their courtyard to be "the beauty spot of Cambridge." Elephant supporters rose in revolt to protest, only to be met by a Lowell statement that their courtyard contains a dogwood, four lilacs, and a cherry. Latest word from "The Latter-Day Eden" is that they expect to counter the Lowell claim by pointing out that their courtyard has Merriman ad a large tree.

Winthrop Formal May 23

Rolly Rogers, of Totem Pole fame, will provide the music for the Winthrop House Spring Formal on May 23. Dancing will be both inside and outside.

Elections to the House Committee were announced as follows; Juniors, Stanley Durwood and James Murphy, and Sophmores, Walter Kennedy and Thayer Drake. The Committee officers for next year are John Richardson, chairman, and James Murphy, treasurer.
