As a continuation of the Procurement Program for the Naval Supply Corps, started last January, the Navy Department has announced a new opening for an additional 600 qualified men for the Corps. Successful applicants will be commissioned as Ensigns, U.S.N.R.

At the same time Lieutenant Commander Stanley L. Wilson, assistant professor of Naval Science and Tactics, stated Friday that instead of the usual long summer cruise for students in Naval Science, a series of six-day training periods would be substituted, the first starting June 1 and the last August 24.

Small Craft to Be Used

In place of the larger units of the Fleet which have been used in the past, the training this year will be done in daily tacks aboard shore-based small craft, and members of the Harvard Unit will be quartered ashore in Boston Harbor.

In the case of Naval Supply Corps trained at the Business School, the applicant must be no less than 19 or over 26 years old to his nearest birthday, and must possess a suitable degree from an accredited college or be sufficiently advanced in his studies for a degree to be able to finish in 1942. If naturalized, he must have been a citizen for the last ten years and have resided in the country for the same period of time.

12/20 Vision Required

For entrance into the Supply Corps a height of not less than 66 inches or not more than 76 inches, and a weight of at least 132 pounds is required. The applicant must possess 20 of his own teeth in sound condition, of which at least four must be opposing molars, two on each side. He must have 12/20 vision in each eye unaided, any deficiencies to be corrected to 20/20 vision by properly fitting glasses.
