Although the artillery in the Mil Sci regiment is for the most part, truck-drawn, almost 50 men have volunteered for extra training with the horse-drawn battery that was started last year. Drill for the men in the battery will total over three hours every afternoon, four days a week.
Before the men of the batter take part in the Spring Review, they must learn to drive the six-horse teams, as well as to harness and care for the horses. The course has rather less theoretical training than other parts of Mil Sci, "because there are some things that you can't learn from a book," as one instructor put it.
Headed by Cadet Captain M. P. McNair, the batter will draw its men from all courses in Mil Sci. The captain, and first and second lieutenants will come from Mil Sci 4, the non-commissioned officers from 3, and the drivers and cannoneers from 2 and 1.
