Varsity Swamps Northeastern 61 to 31; Jayvee Quintet Takes Close 43-30 Game

De Leo's Defensive Play is Outstanding

Finally discovering what it's like to win a close game after having lost two of their contests this season by two-point margins, the Jayvees held out against Northeastern's last half threat to take their second victory in a row, 43 to 30, in the preliminary to the Varsity game last night.

The Crimson led most of the way, being ahead 24 to 17 at the half. But the Huskies began to creep up in the second half to within threatening distance.

De Leo Stars

Putting on their biggest drive in the last few minutes, Northeastern had a chance to tie up the score and go out in front. But some fine defensive work by Mike De Leo, guard on the '45 team, who was playing his first game for the Jayvees, came through in grand style to break up the Husky drives and keep the ball safely in Crimson hands.
