Nine Crimson players have received honorable mention on the Associated Press All-America squad.
Russ Stannard had the unusual honor of being mentioned in two different positions, guard and tackle. He started the year as right tackle but to fill a weak spot in the line he was shifted to right guard from the Army game through the Michigan game.
Cleo O'Donnell, captain of the visionary '43 eleven was also on the list. With Cleo in the backfield were Don Richards, victim of a penalty which nullified his 65 yard touchdown run during the Yale game, and Jack Comeford the passing ace. Also mentioned was Wayne Johnson, regular fullback and signal caller who was named Player of the Week after the Brown game.
The Crimson linemen mentioned were: Stan Durwood, Stannard's mate in the tackle slots; Jack Fisher, one of the three Fishers, who played center; Charlie Gudaitis, regular left guard, and Bill Barnes, left and throughout the season.
