Wellesley Scoffs at Yale in Attempt to Lure Freshmen

Wellesley and Harvard have always been good friends, but at the beginning of this year things looked bad. Dances were called off, cars were going out of fashion, and the Navy officers were invited out west. But everything is OK now, at least for Harvard '46.

Already this fall three dances have lured Freshmen to the darkling shores of Lake Waban, for the most openly maternalistic treatment they've had in a long time. Free tickets went to '46ers for the last two dances, but the inevitable minority of shaving upperclassmen slid in. Committeemen, they said.

Right now the ladies are preparing to welcome the Yard-and-Houselings at a dance which will vie with the Yale game next Saturday. They confidently expect a big turnout, despite the game. "We always do pretty well," one is reported to have said. Lucky Freshmen will go out on the 7:30 train, be carried back by special bus.
