Still seeking their fourth win of the season, the Varsity soccer team faces the Bruin booters at 12 o'clock on the Business School field. Riddled with injuries for the first time, Coach MacDonald's men will attempt to crash the win column against a Brown team that has three wins and four defeats to its credit.
At the same time, a Jayvee team composed of both Freshmen and Varsity will oppose the Brown Jayvee team on field 2. This is the first time in recent soccer annals that Yardlings have been eligible for Varsity competition, and Varsity men for Jayvee teams.
The new eligibility rule will make the Scotsman's task a bit easier today, for with the team left weak by the injuries to three regulars, and the absence of a fourth, MacDonald will very probably call his '46 aces Captain Dave Ogden and inside forward Paul Pearson into active services.
In the first Crimson eleven, halfbacks Bill Butcher and Ward Slingerland, and inside forward Thayer Drake will be missing due to leg injuries.
Other changes in the Varsity lineup occur at the halfback slot, where Herb Allen will take over, and at an inside forward, where Paul Morgan, star of last week's surprise tie with Mass. State, may start.
The Bruin eleven comes to Cambridge with but a mediocre record against practically the same type of opposition that has faced the Crimson. Brown has been beaten by Tufts and Army, which were in turn beaten and tied by the Varsity in the earlier parts of the season.
The Bruin eleven is led by its fast forward wall, centering about Ed Keppler, high-scoring center forward. Outside forward Phil Messare, and inside forward Jack Andrews are other standouts of the line.
