Harassed Yardlings Mutter In Beards, Threaten Revenge

The first day they just thought it was part of Harvard life, but when every morning precisely at 6:30 o'clock inmates of Wigglesworth were aroused by the persistent rhythm of marching feet, a few signs of protest appeared.

"FOR GOD'S SAKE SHUT UP! DO YOU WANT TO WAKE THE BABY?" a poster in one window argued as redeyed, sleepless Yardlings grimly eyed the trim and buoyant squads wheeling below.

Among the bolder spirits, plans for retaliation were under discussion. Some suggested a well-directed firehose, some a mass march in front of Matthews at 5:30 o'clock. Finally a wild-eyed, harassed fugitive in one corner spoke up with determination. "It's very simple," he said. "Let's mine the sidewalk."
