Door-to-door canvassing of all students not enrolled in the University War Bond and Stamp purchasing campaign began yesterday in an all-out attempt to boost the total from the summer low of 35 per cent of the student body participating.

"No figures could be compiled as yet," Richard N. Swift '44, organizer of the drive, stated last night," but scattered returns indicate that the final results will be more satisfactory." During the two summer sessions more than $3495.10 was purchased through the Houses, after pledge cards were distributed in the dining halls.

Pledge Card System

The present system provides for students signing pledges to save a fixed sum per week through the Houses, but no police organization to insure fulfillment of these promises was deemed necessary by Swift's committee.

Tables are being set up in each House for two days this week. Dunster, Kirkland, and Winthrop inaugurated the dining hall drive yesterday and will continue today, with the remaining four Houses taking their turn on Thursday and Friday.
