This Saturday afternoon at Emerson Hall the Massachusetts State Branch of the American Federation of Teachers will hold their Fifth Annual Conference. "Defense of Education" is the theme of the sessions, and visitors are welcome.
The conference, which adheres closely to the theme, will include an address by Miss Lynd, co-author of "Middletown" and four panels of discussion. Panels are "Encroachments Upon Democracy in Education," "Teacher Welfare," "Workers in Education," and "Parent Responsibilities."
The program is divided into two general session and the panel discussions. At the first general session, George R. Faxon will preside and receive reports from other Union groups. At the concluding general session following the panels, with F. O. Mathiessen, associate professor of History and Literate, wielding the gavel, Miss Lynd's talk will conclude the conference.
