YARDLING TENNIS, STICK TEAMS WIN

B.U. Frosh Defeats Crimson Nine; Fitzgibbons Heads '44 Ball Team

Sharing the fate of the Varsity nine, the Yardling diamond forces dropped a 4 to 2 decision to the Boston University yearlings at Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. Edward S. Fitzgibbons, of Whitman and Straus Hall, was elected captain of the '44 nine.

Warren Berg, first-string pitcher, hurled good ball, but got little support from the pitches from the inexperienced infield. Sandy Macmillan, playing second base in today's game, duplicated his feat in the Wentworth contest last Saturday by pounding out a round-the-sacks clout to left field in the eighth inning.

The Freshman tennis team also turned in an 8 to 1 win over Andover yesterday, taking all the contests but one singles match. Closest battle of the afternoon was Ted Cohn's game with Early of Andover.

In an upset victory, the Freshman lacrosse team won its first game of the season 11 to 3 against Worcester Academy yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field. Hurley, Donahue and Mahony scored most of the goals but the trangest was by defenseman Tom Bridge, who took the ball in Yardling territory, went up the field without being checked, and shot into the strings.
