After choosing W. Milbank Pillsbury '42 president in their annual spring elections last evening, the American Student Defense League, Harvard Chapter, passed a motion favoring American convoy of ships to Britain.
This action is in direct accord with the group's policy of defeating Hitler at any cost. The club believes that America's possible entry into the war through conflict with German ships or airplanes must not overshadow the importance of giving England material aid in resistance to Hitler. A motion favoring immediate declaration of war was proposed but after a short discussion was turned down.
The other newly-elected officers include Royal G. Whiting, Jr. '42, vice-president; Walter J. Lear '43, secretary; and Roger G. Fisher '43, treasurer.
Pillsbury's first act as president was the preparation of an extensive drive for greater membership. Believing that the league's policy is becoming increasingly popular in public opinion, he proposed and passed the motion that membership fees be reduced as a further incentive for joining the league.
