With but two matches left to play, one with St. Paul's and the other with the Yale Freshmen, this year's Yardling Squash team appears to be one of the greenest yearling squads to sport the Crimson.

After taking it on the chin for eight of their ten matches, Freshman Coach Dorson's proteges are working hard to reverse a previous defeat at the hands of St. Paul's. Following this match, the team will begin to prepare for the Yale Freshmen whom they will play exactly a week later on March 3.

The squad's record has been consistently unimpressive throughout the year, mainly because inexperience has made itself felt in the close matches. Time and again individual games have been lost by only one or two points, while in over half of its matches the team has been shaded by scores of 3 to 2. The two victories which the squad has had so far, have been over the M. I. T. Jayvee and the C Team of the Harvard Club of Boston.

First man on the team at the present time is Pete Gray. With the exception of the first few weeks of play. Grey has maintained his position throughout the season. Though erratic at times, he has some good shots, particularly, his hard shot down the side of the court.

Fred Parson has been second man until recently when he went on pro. As a result Hank Bame, who has had the best match record of anyone on the squad, is now in the second slot. Because of his light build, he is not too aggressive in his play, although actually he his a hard ball. His forte is in his drop shot.

Third man is Wally McDonald, a Nebraska boy, who just started to play this year. He is good at long volleys and has a knack of keeping his position in the center of the court where he has less difficulty in returning his opponent's shots. In the same boat as McDonald is Ed Stevens who also began squash this year and who has made the most rapid improvement of all.

In fifth position is Danny Gorenstein, another beginner, in whom inexperience is quite apparent. Although he had developed excellent form and continues to get better every day, he still has the habit of losing control over his game in match play.

Chances for a Crimson victory in the coming Yale match look pretty grim, especially since Yale has one of the best Freshman Squash squads of Bulldog history, the team being composed largely of players from Exeter which last year had the best prep school rating in the East. The Crimson team, for the Yale match, will doubtless have Grey and Bane for number one and two men, respectively, while McDonald, Stevens and Gorenstein will battle it out for the remaining three positions with Marshall Hughes and Nevill Cramer, two men who are coming up fast from the second team.
