LONDON--Russian troops were reported to have seized the offensive today northwest of Moscow, where they advanced three miles on a wide front and recaptured several villages, and in the Donets Basin, where they gained new positions around Gorlovs, 100 miles northwest of Rostov.
The Germans were reported stalled at all points, from the blizzard-swept Mulmansk front south to the Black See, except possibly for some points on Crimes, where the momentum of their fierce assault had carried them to the outer defenses of Sevastopol.
