NEW YORK--Abe "Kid Twist" Reles, 37, who rose to the vice-presidency in Brooklyn's Murder, Inc., through hard work and viciousness, bungled an attempt to escape police guards today and plunged from the sixth story of a Coney Island Hotel to a death as sudden as any he had inflicted on his known 11 victims.
He landed in a sitting position with his head snapped forward between his knees and rubbing in the gravel.
Reles, described as more vicious than John Dillinger, had confessed 11 murders as "vice-president" of Murder, Inc., and had given police information about 72 others credited to the syndicate.
