UNDERGRADUATES RALLY AS INDIANS INVADE

Torch Parade To Precede Tonight's Mass Pep Meeting

Three centuries of indifferent Harvard men will turn over in their graves tonight, but by God, one decade of their descendants would rather have them turning tonight than tossing tomorrow afternoon.

For at 7 o'clock, in the stone-paved Quincy Street courtyard facing the Varsity Club, the students of the oldest and most blase of America's universities will gather to steal a Big Green leaf out of Dartmouth's book by staging a mass rally in an effort to hoist the team from Hanover on its own enthusiastic petard.

Very definitely it will not be a "pep" rally; there are depths to which Harvard cannot sink even when it's out to avenge itself for eight years of having to watch the Soldiers Field goal posts break under a wave of green coats and pants after the Dartmouth game.

Instead it will be a demonstration that the College is actually backing its team and that victory over the Indian from the Wilderness really means something to the men in the stands.

Inside the Club, Coach Dick Harlow, Captain Franny Lee, and most of the stars of the team will be assembled to writhe in their chairs as the Green mentor quote Tuss unquote McLaughry, beamingly praises the fine state of H.D relations.

And outside the Crimson backers will be assembled to prove to Dick and Franny and the lads that they believe someone else will be grinning over H-D relations tomorrow night and that someone else will be collecting goose eggs in the afternoon.

Torches, songs, cheers, bandsmen, and Carl Poscosolido, star of the 1932 game which saw the Crimson flash in triumph over the pea color for the last time, will be the feature attractions of the evening, but just being there will be thrill enough.

"Pesky" cavorted 93 yards through the entire Dartmouth team back in '32 for victory and a hero's niche. Now it's expected that his presence at the rally tonight and the game tomorrow will inspire the team with comph.

Franny and Dick are both expected to say a few words and with them will be Bobby Green, captain and star end of the 1938 eleven, who will leave his theological school Eible behind for the occasion.

Other speakers inside the Club at the annual dinner of the Club will be Dartmouth's prexy, Ernest Martin Hopkins, and Harvard Director of Athletics William J. Bingham '16.
