A firm belief that democracy was worth fighting for and would survive the present crisis was expressed by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., Junior Fellow, and William S. McCauley, tutor in Government, speaking at the opening meeting of the Freshman division of the Harvard Liberal Union last night in the Union Upper Common Room.
Ed Ames '42, H.L.U. President, also spoke, outlining the policies and activities of the group.
